Every Moment Counts!
What a great start to the term! The children have returned with fantastic enthusiasm to their learning and a great work ethic. This half term, our extra curricular activities have changed year groups. Children in Year 2 enjoyed their first Bushcraft session of the term. Year 3 have begun Karate and Year 5 visited City Academy to start their swimming sessions. This week, the school had a big focus on Healthy Eating following the letter sent at the end of last half term.
Thank you to the parents who joined us this week for our EYFS and KS1 Reading Sessions. We look forward to welcoming parents and carers to KS2 sessions and workshops later this term. Next week we have a super busy week! The children will be involved in UK Parliament week, the Eco Team will be visited by Energy Sparks, KS2 will begin their sessions and workshops, Year 4 will be taking part in an exciting Maths Programme and the Friends of Henderson Green will be meeting to discuss plans ahead - all whilst our children continue with their exciting lessons and learning.

Parents Evenings
During the week commencing 20th November, there will be the opportunity to speak to your child’s teacher, to talk about your child’s progress and needs. Today a letter will be going home. Please indicate the times you would prefer on the slip at the bottom of the letter and return this to your child’s teacher. The actual appointments are up to ten minutes each. The exact time of the appointment will be confirmed on a slip and these will be returned with the children next week. If you have more than one child in school please leave sufficient time between selecting appointments to avoid any overrunning- at least 30 minutes if on the same evening. Thank you.
Reading Sessions Autumn Term 2
As a school we are committed to ensuring that every child gets the best start possible to help them learn to read, enjoy stories and develop a love for reading so it enables children to make connections to the real world.
Following the success from last half term, and to ensure everyone has the opportunity to attend sessions to promote reading for pleasure in Reception, Year 1 and 2 we would like to invite parents/careers in
every Tuesday next half term at 2:45pm to attend our daily story time sessions. Thank you to the parents who joined our first session this week.
Following the success of our KS1 reading sessions last half term, we would like to invite parents and carers to join in with further reading sessions and workshops this half term to promote the value of reading. This will be an exciting opportunity for you to take part in reading focus workshops and reading sessions with your child, class teacher and reading leads.
The reading workshops will allow you to gather a range of information from our English and Read Write Inc Leads which enable you to facilitate good practice at home. The reading sessions in key stage 1 and 2 will range from information gathering, inference and deduction, art and craft activities as well as simply reading for pleasure with your child. We know that reading is a vital component of a child’s education and we would love for you to be part of it. Please see letter sent home for more information and dates. Please note the date has changed for Year 4 as they will now be attending a maths workshop at this time. Please see new date below.
Raising Awareness
Following the letter sent out at the end of half term it is vitally important that our children have the knowledge of what a healthy- balanced diet is and what it looks like. This week, the children were given a 'Be Food Smart' assembly which helped the pupils find out what is currently in their food and encourage them to make healthier swaps so they eat less sugar, saturated fat and salt.
As stated in the letter, please inform your child what you have packed in their lunch box for snack and ensure there are no items that contain nuts. We are a nut-free school. If you did not receive the letter - please ask the office for a copy. Thank you.
As Halloween and firework events are happening we have reminded children on how to stay safe over this week and weekend. Please visit https://www.norfolk.gov.uk/safety/norfolk-fire-and-rescue-service/safety-advice-and-guidance/specialist-advice/fireworks for further information.
